Dilated Peoples - Back Again

Dilated Peoples will launch their new album, 20/20, with a North American headlining tour and two television appearances. The acclaimed hip-hop trio will perform their new single, “Back Again,” on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on February 20th (the eve of the album’s release) and on “Last Call With Carson Daly” on February 28th. In between television appearances, they’ll kick off their tour at the House of Blues in Los Angeles on February 20th. Other tour highlights include two days at S.O.B.’s in New York City (March 15th & 16th).
“Back Again” is off to a great start at radio, with first-week adds by Top 40 rhythmic stations in such major markets as Los Angeles (PWR 106 and KDAY), Miami (PWR96), San Francisco (KMEL), Portland, OR (KXJM) and San Diego (XMOR). The accompanying video, which features cameos from B-Real, the Alchemist, Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar Odom and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu stars, The Gracie Family, has been selected for the latest round of Yahoo! Music’s “Stop! Watch” program, which began January 9th. Every four weeks, “Stop! Watch” selects four breakthrough videos and gives them unprecedented exposure through immediate heavy rotation and additional promotion on Yahoo! Music.
20/20 explodes out of the speakers with some of the most forceful beats of Dilated Peoples’ career. As fans will see with the upcoming tour, the group took special care to make 20/20 an exciting aural experience that would translate well to the stage. “When we’re in the studio,” explains Rakaa, “we try to capture the energy that happens on stage.”
The humor and insightful social commentary that inform the tag-team rhyming of Rakaa and Evidence combined with the turntable prowess of DJ Babu have made the trio one of hip-hop’s most respected groups. Dilated Peoples first gained recognition with their 1997 ABB Records single “Third Degree” backed with “Confidence” and “Global Dynamics.” Capitol Records released The Platform, their full-length debut, in 2000 followed by Expansion Team in 2001 and 2004’s Neighborhood Watch, which included the hit “This Way,” produced by and featuring Kanye West.
