Bol ends Rhymefest's Career

Bol from Byron Crawford did it again. You know a cat gots skills when he has Kanye West ramblin' like a lil girl (tek-joto) about him on BBC Radio 1. We never knew how sensitive famous people are to online bloggers and their knack for giving people a reality check. This time, You can credit Bol for ending Rhymefest's career. You'll have to read about it to believe it...

Sadat X, The Gangsta

Brand Nubian's Sadat X, was arrested on Thursday Dec. 22nd in Harlem, when he allegedly brandished a firearm in public, threatening to "kill everybody". According to the pigs, Sadat X flashed a loaded .40-caliber black Beretta at a group of 18-year-olds on West 158th Street and Broadway, and told them he was looking for "a guy with braids." Once police arrived on the scene, X was pointed out by the group of snitch bitches and he bounced, but was quickly apprehended and arrested, as police found the loaded pistol still on him. The 37-year-old rapper, whose real name is Derek Murphy, was arraigned in a Manhattan Supreme Court on Friday Dec. 23rd on charges of criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest. Damn, and everyone still thinks 50 is gangsta... hahaha. Brand Nubian said it best... Punks Jump Up to Get Beat Down!

DB Sessions Holiday Special

Keeping with a yearly tradition, We bring you the Digital Bombing 2005 Holiday Special. Yesterday, We had some of the dopest Digital Bombing DJ's throwdown all sorts of crazy business. Set it off with a crazy DB Intro over the N2O Mashup remix of Slipknot's Pulse of the Maggots... Audio1 hit us over the head with some Hardstep DNB and some heavy Freeburning cuts before going into a Run DMC Megamix launching us back into the heavy N2O steez... Christmas In Hollis over Skindred N2O Mashup!!! What!! Akaider was next on the selection. He did a lil shoutout to the crew before droppin' his favorite Dancehall cuts and boy, the dude gots a style to put most any bloodclaat selector to shame. You get all the dope shit from TOK, Elephant Man (Willie Bounce), Tami Chynn and many more. PVK was nexxt on the decks and he unleashed one of them sets that just, amazing. Almost every record on this mix came from FREEBURNING's "Lost Crate" and "DJ 3D's Famous Crate". If you feeling any of the selections played so far in the DB Session, You already know where to buy em. There was a 2 minute intermission where Digital Bombers MC Cochino Sanchez, Sonami, Crise One, 515, (L)3 and Gobe gave holiday shoutouts to all Digital Bombing crew, over a classic reggae riddim. We continue on and we have Miklo from Norcal throwdown another dope set with cuts from the Lost Crate... Next up to bat was E R S 1. What can we say? This set was completely bananas. ERS1 gots his unique style and selection of 4/4 hardcore/gabber/ragga stylings... It got down right fierce and mosh pit mode... This is the only place you can hear Paul Wall/Mike Jones over 4/4 Hardcore bizness... ERS1 ripped it. To chill things out and put it all in perspective is 6211's DDub who dropped a nice Irie selection of reggae cuts and finished the show with DJ Scud's Kill or Be Killed... Digital Bombing came and went full circle with every style imaginable within a 4 hour period. This is definitely bringin' back the vibes of the old Digital Bombing Freeburning Sessions from way back in the day with cats like J. Love The Soundsmith, Nel E Nel Rockwell, DJ Shiro, DBK and other old skool bombers. Enjoy the sets and Happy Holidays from everyone at DigitalBombing.com. Keeping it Freeburning into 2006!

TAMI CHYNN ALERT

All we hear around the office lately is Tami Chynn this Tami Chynn that.
Its all Akaider talks about these days, so we had to post up the Tami Chynn report
or we wouldn't hear the end of it. Like we reported a couple months ago, Tami got signed to a four album deal with Universal and her debut is set to drop in early 2006. She just finished a quick promotional tour through the States and heads were mad impressed with her style and bangin voice. With her single 'Hyperventilating' gettin play on stations like Power 106 here in LA and Wild 94.9 in the bay area, things seem to be looking up for Tami. To keep up on more Tami Chynn news, peep www.tamichynn.com on the regular, or her MySpace. Don't forget, you heard it first on DB, Tami Chynn gwaan blow up in 2006!

Dr. Evil - More Punnany

Comin off of the hit single 'Tuck in Yu Belly' on the Throwback Giggy riddim, blazing production team Leftside & Esco are pulling no punches with their secret bashment killer... Dr. Evil from Austin Powers! Yup, unless you've been out of the loop, the streets have been buzzing even since Dr. Evil busted 'No STD' (I love S.E.X, I don't want no S.T.D.) on the Ice Cube riddim. Heads were left fiending for more cuts from the unorthodox, Eminem-like styles of Dr. Evil. Lucky for the fans, Leftside & Esco hooked up TWO Dr. Evil joints on the soon to be released Galore riddim. This shit is bumpin, with killer performances from Vybz Kartel, Tami Chynn, and Lady Saw also dropping on the riddim. Guaranteed to be a bashment killer for early 2006! (Jungle remix anyone?)

Howard Stern bids Farewell to Terrestrial Radio

Friday, December 16th 2005, The day we've all been waiting for since Howard Stern made his announcement last year about moving to Sirius. He set off todays show with John Lennon's "Imagine" and played some incredible bits to honor guests who have since passed away. There was alot of comotion going on. The impending NYC transit strike didnt materialize so that helped alot. Many guests came thru and the crowd outside waiting to greet Howard Stern as he left Infinity were in for a treat as there was some crazy performances by The Wack Pack, Sal The Stockbroker & Richard Christy and a live performance by Beetlejuice alonside the super rock group Staind, performing The Beetle Song. One by one, the members of Howard's show came down... Gary Dell'abante, Fred Norris, Artie Lange, Robin Quivers and finally, the man himself, Howard Stern took center stage. It was a very heartfelt goodbye to the many fans in the crowd and the millions who have been tuning in for over 20 years on terrestrial radio. Big props to The Howard Stern Show, for standing up for free speech and moving on to an uncensored medium so hardcore fans like us can tune in to the show, the way it was meant to be heard. We leave you with snapshots and audio from today's celebration for THE KING OF ALL MEDIA.

The Beez and Skindred on N2O

This time it's the 82nd record from the world's most abrasive ruff and rugged label. N2O has been worldwide for several successful years and now they keep adding new and fresh global talent to their roster from Japan, Australia, Mexico, Brazil, Germany etc. This time, The Beez and Skindred both from London get the American hardstepping metal jungle grime treatment bounced back at the Brits in a fresh new style. All we can say here at the Dojo is, that this tune "Shottin Up the Place" really brings the new sound to the table fusing and mashing grime, hip hop, breakcore and hardstepping Capone style drum and bass. This is just the teaser to the upcoming full release by The Beez who are the most notorious underground grime rap group coming out of the streets of London. Once again.... N2O ups the game higher than thou.... go home soundboy. Peep game on the flip with the 3rd remix mash up metal jungle ragga style of the blowing up Skindred... now on major label Warner Bros! Sick drops from Benji Dread and mad hooks and Slayer type riffs layer the full metal sound..... Go deeper thru the soundclip and you'll hear the tight dancehall breakdown that is going to be the next N2O riddim..... pure "Pressure!" N2O continues to innovate. Grab yours at Freeburning.

Silent Storm - Digital Bombing Russia Sector

We got a homie named Artur, goes by the name of Silent Storm. You'd expect a name like that for an incognito homie on stealth soundbombing missions in the former USSR, but it's no joke. He left after a one year stay in the US to the homeland that is Russia. Before leaving, He managed to grab a big stash of dubs and releases from N2O as well... The rest is history!

Silent Storm recently played The Russian Drum 'N' Bass Convention 2005, inna St. Petersburg (Russia's D&B capital)... Imagine 3000 people inside a huge theater that was transformed into a DNB moshpit... There were 50 producers and DJ's from Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia and Belarus that were billed for the show. Bailey from Metalheadz/Intasound was the headliner of the show.

Silent Storm, Homeboy and Bailey from Metalheadz (in the middle)

An article on the popular russian site X-Dance reports, "In spite of some very hot temperatures inside the place, It rocked. Especially was a very memorable set from new upcomer Silent Storm that brought some San Francisco sound flavor to Saint Pete with him"... He dropped N2O classics like General Malice's Inna Soundclash and Fallen, which had the Russian massive in the place pumped...He also played dubplate exclusives from General Malice and Prodigal Son amongst others... It's good to know that in even far away places like Russia, the N2O mashup sound has managed to infiltrate and makes waves...

Check out this incredible set which we've entitled "The History Lesson" as Silent Storm starts back in the Bombscare days and takes you on a trip all the way to the N2O era and back. Silent Storm promised DB lots of Vodka and hot Russian bitches once we get out there. Let the cold war begin!

Tech Nine and Ozomatli on N2O

"Droppin' Muthafukas" is a LARGE tune. This one is just full of roughness and the vocal gives it a good club sensibility. N20 coming proper with the Ozomatli remix and the mashed drums and big basslines make this the one im gonna be rinsing out every time I play out for a while. Big up to Malice and N8LOC on this one. I now declare General Malice the Minister Of The New Super Heavy Heavy Jungle Sound. "I'm a Playa" is full of hip hop remix goodness and I expect this one to get plenty of play once the orders are filled and the tunes drop. Nice vocal from Tech 9ine and Starscream on the remix tip. Expect more large remixes like this one in 2000 sicks. Call or visit Freeburning before theyre all gone. N2O-100 Soon!

Beck vs. The Mae-Shi

So much of Beck's '90s output was a mythologizing of the 80s Los Angeles he grew up immersed in – lowriders, mariachi, turntables and microphones. Sure, it's patronizing at times – "Odelay" was his gringo approximation of "orale," as in "orale vato" – but for some, it's the perfect whiteboy synthesis of pre-Rodney King Riots Los Angeles.

However, the sound of the city has changed. With this remix, local L.A. surprise punks The Mae Shi have tried to capture the sound of a summer in Los Angeles in 2005 – the sound of Daddy Yankee selling out Staples Center, the sound of narcocorridos booming from the car next to you as you drive down Pico Blvd. This year saw a new radio station take over the streets of Los Angeles, Latino 96.3, a bilingual station "blazing reggaeton and hip-hop." In the hot windows-down summer of 2005, the station was impossible to ignore, and its rise in public presence coincided with Daddy Yankee's newfound ubiquity (as well as his ability to sellout Staples Center).

"Que Onda Guero (Team Shi 96.3 Latino Remix)" is The Mae Shi's attempt to capture the sound of 2005 in the same way Beck captured the sound of 1985. On the eve of the release of Beck's Guerelito, we offer you this exclusive. We hear he's on some Tom Cruise scientology trip, but the mash-up sounds good. As long as he doesn't start jumping on couches like on Oprah (Negro woman from the south), we'll give him the DB ghetto pass...

Richard Pryor R.I.P.

Comedic Visionary Richard Pryor is dead at the age of 65. He had been battling multiple sclerosis for a long time now and he passed of a heart attack in LA this morning. Digital Bombing is really saddened by the news as he was one of our most favorite comedians ever and defintiely paved the way for the biggest comedians of today. He lived a pretty interesting life and opened up the doors of the entertainment industry like no other had in the past with his brand of down to earth, uncut, uncensored humor. Richard Pryors's brilliant comic imagination and creative use of the blunt cadences of street language were revelations to most Americans. He did not simply tell stories, he brought them to vivid life, revealing the entire range of black America's humor, from its folksy rural origins to its raunchier urban expressions. Definitely a man way ahead of his time. Please enjoy the following Richard Pryor classic selections from the DB archive. You still makin' people laugh muthafucka!! Rest In Peace.

The Primeridian - Quality HipHop

The Primeridian has established a strong following in Chicago and surrounding areas with their conscious and passion-enriched music. The release of their first album “Meet You In Greenwhich”, led to The Primeridian being featured on a number of compilations that included the likes of Chuck D, Mos Def, Afu-Ra and Common. So, naturally, the emcee combination of Tree & V merged with Chicago-based recording label All Natural, Inc., to release their first commercial release “Da All Nighta”.

Without surrendering to the average rap quo, The Primeridian standout with stylish, yet positive lyrics on songs like “Floatin” and “Wisdom”. With most of the production being handled by The Primeridan, they take the opportunity to enhance personally designed tracks with live instrumentation in order to manage a sound and essence that’s reminiscent of hip hop beats of past. Involving warm bass lines, and soulful drums with comprehensive concepts from song to song, Da All Nighta features additional production by Kenny Keys on “From the Go” and “Off the Track”, which also features a cameo from J.Sands of Lone Catalysts. Stoney Rock rounds out the sound and theme of Da All Nighta with highly noticeable production, giving The Primeridian an obvious comfortable feeling with peaceful musical compositions. From the first 12-inch release “Trumpets of Zion” to album cuts such as “Brian Power”, Da All Nighta stands on 19 tracks of colorful emceeing and solid song writing with a purpose. Check the lead single "Trumpets of Zion" and catch them at a local show soon.

Lomo Colorsplash

You thought this was ova wit? This ain't ova wit! As the dojo monks can tell you, once you start getting into photography, you'll quickly find out that the regular cams can get whitebread pretty quick. Why not have a camera for every situation? Luckily LOMO picked up on this idea and developed all kinds of cool specialty cams! One of our favorites is the Lomo Colorsplash, which integrates a color filter flash and a long-exposure feature that leaves trailers and color rich atmosphere in your photos. Like the BBOY-3000 track says, "Boy Come to Test, So why be Handicap?" The colorsplash is the flying guillotine in our collection.

Fort Minor - The Rising Tied

I wasn't really up on Fort Minor, the hip hop side project of Linkin Park frontman Mike Shinoda, but after hearing a dope interview with Davey D, I was intrigued. In the interview, Shinoda goes thru the reasons behind going solo and breaks down some of the song topics. Apparently Jigga was involved in overseeing part of the project and even bumps the track 'Cigarettes' on the regular! 'Kenji' riffs off the topic of the Japanese-American concentration camps, reminds me of a modern version Key-Kool's 'Reconcentrated'. Dope and educational without being hokey. Its good to see cats come out with interesting projects even after major success. From what I hear he's a humble dude too, he's given donations to non-profits in LA's J-Town, so props to him for that!

Smokin Mirrors - Quetzal

Our friends at Smokin Mirrors just put out a compilation of music video they've produced over the years, mostly focusing on bands from the Eastside of LA, from Aztlan Underground, Quinto Sol, Sapos Muertos and more. One of our favorites is Quetzal, a rootsy band that meshes a myriad of latin rhythms with the son jarocho style of Veracruz. Quetzal's new video 'Planta De Los Pies' seamlessly intercuts shots of downtown LA and Xalapa Veracruz, and features members of the famous jarocho group, Son de Madera. The DVD is available in Japan or direct from Smokin Mirrors. Check it out!

Apple Computer's iTunes music store now sells more music than Tower Records or Borders, according to analyst firm the NPD Group. The research company tracks downloads from digital music stores, as well as people's purchasing habits at offline retail stores. During the past three months, iTunes made it to the U.S. Top 10 sales list for the first time, NPD said.

King of All Media - Howard Stern

King of all Media can't be stopped! We salute you.

This morning as the Howard Stern began his show by singing along with Queen's "We are the Champions"... He has a lot on his mind these days and big moves to make. With only has 10 live shows left on terrestrial radio, Howard is set to leave for Sirius Radio in January 2006 and with such a big money contract, he's promoting his ass off with taped interviews with "The Today Show", Letterman, and will be appearing this Sunday's "60 Minutes" on CBS (Don't sleep on that one as he plans to break down everything...). Also don't sleep on the current Esquire Magazine which wrote an incredible article on Howard, its @ the newsstands right now. Howard is also set to appear on "Saturday Night Live" within a week or two.

Stern poses for photo with Digital Bombing fan

Sirius Satellite estimates that Howard's show could boost the station's total subscriber count to 3.2 million by the end of 2005... Take into consideration that Sirius now has 2.17 million subscribers, up from 660,000 a year ago. Even car companies like Mazda have announced that newer model cars will have Sirius modules pre-installed. It goes to show you the kind of power the King of All Media has over America. Besides being a funny MF, Howard is on record for standing up to the FCC and spearheading a nonstop war on censorship for 20 years! With two decades of giving the finger to the FCC under his belt, you know who's putting it down! The move to Sirius will be a sigh of relief for everyone who missed the raw and uncut Howard Stern of old days. Also, on November 18th, Howard began offering his too-raunchy for TV moments as Video-On-Demand with new TV partner In Demand. All those times you heard but couldn't see them hot bitches giving oil massages and competing in the ever famous 'Anal Ring Toss' are finally over. Stern's final live radio broadcast for Infinity is scheduled for Dec. 16. You know we'll all be listening and so will the entire world, As the King of All Media, Howard Stern, leaves whitebread terrestrial radio for good.

The hardcore Stern fans in NYC (see us in there?)

We at Digital Bombing salute Howard Stern on his continued success over the years. DB crew gets up early every weekday to catch his show and we got hundreds of Howard Stern recordings in the archive...We thank him for all the years of laughs and fun moments on terrestrial radio and will follow him into the Sirius realm. Howard helped the world in many ways and he continues to set the bar higher for speaking his mind and bringing the truth. He's the champion of the "regular everyday guy" and has outsmarted the government's smear campaigns and will crumble major broadcast radio networks from here on out with his "appointment radio" revolution. Life will be better with Sirius radio, go out and get a few. Howard Stern is the MAN!!!

LOMO POP9

After feedin our tryptophan habit on turkey day and braving the gauntlet on black friday, the monks are back in the office shipping out records and keeping the dojo on track. Kinda like Santa's little helpers, if santa listened to jungle and had a dope porno collection. Besides the new Skindred Mash-up (N20-82!) and the Riddim Wars series, one of the dojo goodies that is drawing major attention is the Lomo Pop9. Its got nine lenses that bukakke blast your images into some new artistic styles. Dope for creating wallpaper-like collages of images, and the metallic skin reminds us of some of the toys our lady-friends like to use. Makes a dope companion to the fisheye cam and a great stocking stuffer for any of your friends. Limited quantities available at the dojo.
